Selank and Semax nasal sprays share a format but not a peptide. Clean Peptide’s Selank Spray and Semax Spray each hold 20 mg of peptide dissolved in a 20 mL spray bottle, a nominal 1 mg per mL, and each lot ships against its own certificate of analysis from HYTE Research Division. The current certificates report different things. The Selank Spray certificate reports identity, HPLC purity (99.74%), peptide content (19.69 mg) and benzyl alcohol (10.51 mg/mL). The Semax Spray certificate reports identity and concentration (1.15 mg/mL), with no HPLC purity figure.
This page compares the two sprays as laboratory materials: what is in each bottle, how the peptides differ, and what each lot’s certificate shows. For the two peptides in general, including the lyophilised vials, see Selank vs Semax.

How the two peptides differ
Both are seven-residue peptides developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and both end in the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail, added to slow their breakdown by peptidases. What differs is the fragment in front of the tail:
- Selank starts with tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg), a fragment of the immunoglobulin G heavy chain.
- Semax starts with Met-Glu-His-Phe, the 4-7 fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
So the two sprays are not interchangeable reference materials: they are different molecules with different masses, and a certificate should name which one it found. The Semax in our spray is unmodified Semax, not “N-acetyl Semax amidate”, which is a different molecule (Ac-MEHFPGP-NH2).
Why the research record uses the nasal route
Most of the animal literature on both peptides gave them intranasally, which is why both are sold as sprays as well as dry powder. Rat studies of Selank and of Semax used that route, and a 2006 kinetics study detected labelled Semax in rat brain within minutes of intranasal application. A 2020 drug-testing study identified both peptides in seized preparations and noted that both were sold online as lyophilised powder or as nasal sprays. That describes the research record; it is not a recommendation, and these bottles are laboratory reference materials. Inozemtseva LS, et al. Doklady Biological Sciences, 2008; Shevchenko KV, et al. Bioorganicheskaia Khimiia, 2006; Vanhee C, et al. Drug Testing and Analysis, 2020.
Spray or vial: the difference is the form
The same two peptides are also sold as 10 mg lyophilised vials: Selank and Semax. The vials are dry powder with ILS Laboratories certificates (HPLC purity, net peptide content and identity by HPLC retention time, plus sterility, endotoxin, heavy metals and a fentanyl screen). The sprays are already in solution, filled from their own lots, with HYTE Research Division certificates. Each form has its own certificate; a vial’s certificate does not cover a spray, or the other way round.
COA by lot: the certificates on file today
These tables are read from the same certificate records as the product pages, so they change when a new lot goes on sale. Every lot is also listed on its certificate page: Selank Spray COA and Semax Spray COA.

What to check on any peptide nasal spray certificate
- Identity names the peptide, Selank or Semax, against a reference standard, with the method.
- Content is measured in the solution: total mg per bottle or mg per mL, against the label.
- Purity is reported, or its absence is stated. A content figure is not a purity figure.
- Anything else in the solution is named. Our Selank Spray certificate measures benzyl alcohol; our Semax Spray certificate does not report one.
- The lot number matches the bottle, and the laboratory, client and dates are on the certificate.
Our guide to verifying a peptide COA explains how to check a certificate with the laboratory.
Where these sprays come from
Clean Peptide is a US store, cleanpeptide.com, operated by Helios LLC in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (about us). It sells Selank Spray and Semax Spray, along with Adamax Spray, DSIP Spray and other peptide solutions in the sprays category, for laboratory research only. Every spray lot ships against its own certificate, published on the product page.
