Peptide Nasal Spray COA: What Each Spray Certificate Reports

A peptide nasal spray COA measures a solution, so the key numbers are identity and concentration, not only purity. Clean Peptide sells five peptide sprays, Selank, Semax, PT-141, DSIP and Adamax, each as 20 mg of peptide in a 20 mL bottle (a nominal 1 mg per mL), and each lot ships against its own HYTE Research Division certificate. All five certificates confirm identity by HPLC-DAD and measure how much peptide is in the solution. Only the Selank Spray certificate also reports HPLC purity and the preservative.

This page puts the five certificates side by side and explains what a spray certificate can and cannot tell you. For the two best-known sprays compared in depth, see Selank vs Semax nasal spray.

Transcribed from the HYTE Research Division certificates for each lot. Every certificate reports identity as confirmed by HPLC-DAD and an overall Pass. The quantity specification on the Semax, PT-141, DSIP and Adamax certificates is “not less than 90% of label claim”; on the Selank certificate it is “not less than 90% of 20 mg”. “Against nominal” is simple arithmetic on the certificate’s figure.

What a spray certificate measures

Identity in solution

HYTE runs the solution on HPLC with a diode-array detector (HPLC-DAD) and matches the peptide’s peak to a reference. The identity line names the peptide: “PT-141 confirmed”, “DSIP confirmed” and so on. Like retention-time identity on powder certificates, this is not mass spectrometry, and none of these certificates reports a measured molecular mass.

Adamax is a special case. It has no INN, CAS number or PubChem record, and published descriptions of its structure differ (our Adamax Spray page sets them out). Its certificate confirms Adamax against the laboratory’s reference material, but it does not state a structure, so the result is only as specific as that reference.

Concentration, not just a total

A powder vial’s certificate gives milligrams in the vial. A spray’s certificate usually gives milligrams per millilitre, measured by a calibration-curve assay. To compare it with the label, multiply by the volume: 1.31 mg/mL in 20 mL is about 26 mg of PT-141 in the bottle. The Selank certificate gives the total directly, 19.69 mg per bottle.

A minimum, not a range

The quantity specification on these certificates is a floor, “not less than 90%”, with no upper limit stated. That is why a result well above nominal, like 1.31 mg/mL against 1 mg/mL, still passes. When you compare sprays, compare the measured figures, not only the word “Pass”.

What only one certificate reports

Only the Selank Spray certificate reports HPLC purity (99.74%) and a preservative, benzyl alcohol, at 10.51 mg/mL. The other four certificates are identity and quantity tests: they do not report a purity percentage, and they do not name or measure a preservative. A content figure is not a purity figure.

Spray or vial: different lots, different certificates

Several of these peptides are also sold as lyophilised powder, for example Selank and Semax 10 mg vials tested by ILS Laboratories with a full QC panel. A powder certificate does not cover a spray made from a different lot, or the other way round. Each form is its own product with its own certificate.

What to check on any peptide nasal spray certificate

  1. Identity names the peptide and the method.
  2. Quantity is given in mg/mL or mg per bottle, and you can work it back to the label using the bottle volume.
  3. You know whether the specification has an upper limit, or only a minimum.
  4. Purity is reported, or its absence is clear.
  5. Anything else in the solution is named, such as a preservative, or you know it was not tested.
  6. The lot code on the certificate matches the bottle, with the laboratory, client and dates shown.

Where these sprays come from

Clean Peptide is a US store, cleanpeptide.com, operated by Helios LLC in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (about us). All five sprays are in the sprays category and are sold for laboratory research only, each lot with its own certificate on the product page.

Frequently asked questions

What does a peptide nasal spray COA report?

At minimum, identity of the peptide in the solution and how much is there, usually in mg per mL. Some certificates also report HPLC purity and the preservative. Clean Peptide’s spray certificates come from HYTE Research Division, one per lot.

What concentration are Clean Peptide's peptide sprays?

Each holds 20 mg of peptide in a 20 mL bottle, a nominal 1 mg per mL. The current certificates measured 1.31 mg/mL (PT-141), 1.18 mg/mL (DSIP), 1.15 mg/mL (Semax), 0.98 mg/mL (Adamax) and 19.69 mg per bottle (Selank).

Why does a spray measure above its label and still pass?

The quantity specification on these certificates is a minimum, “not less than 90% of label claim”, with no upper limit stated. A result above nominal therefore passes. Compare the measured figures, not only the word Pass.

Do the spray certificates report purity?

Only the Selank Spray certificate does (99.74% by HPLC, lot 202609SK_S). The Semax, PT-141, DSIP and Adamax Spray certificates test identity and quantity and do not report a purity percentage.

Is benzyl alcohol in the sprays?

The Selank Spray certificate measures benzyl alcohol at 10.51 mg/mL. The other four spray certificates do not name or measure a preservative.

Does a vial COA cover the nasal spray of the same peptide?

No. Sprays and lyophilised vials are separate products from separate lots, each with its own certificate. The Selank and Semax vials, for example, are tested by ILS Laboratories and the sprays by HYTE Research Division.

Where can I buy peptide nasal sprays in the US with a COA for each lot?

Clean Peptide (cleanpeptide.com) is a US store, operated by Helios LLC in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, that sells Selank, Semax, PT-141, DSIP and Adamax sprays for laboratory research and publishes each lot’s certificate on the product page.

Every reference standard you need, documented down to the batch.

Each size ships against the certificate issued for its own fill — purity, identity and batch, on file before you buy.
